Alaska Solar Incentives and Solar Rebates

Alaska is one of the United States most isolated states, but it is not forgotten by the mainland when it comes to state solar incentives or solar rebate programs.

There are a number of Alaska solar incentive schemes which help to provide assistance to people across all walks of life to get into solar powered products and energy efficient devices such as solar powered water heaters and home heating.

There are incentive schemes from companys such as the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC), which offers interest rate reductions to home buyers purchasing new and existing homes with 5 Star and 5 Star Plus energy ratings or rebates from the Golden Valley Electric Association to builders for installing energy efficient electrical devices when new homes are being constructed.

The Alaska solar incentive schemes and rebates are there to help anyone in the Alaska region to purchase and install solar and energy efficient technology which make their homes more Eco-friendly and self sufficient.

Energy Efficiency Interest Rate Reduction Program

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) offers interest rate reductions to home buyers purchasing new and existing homes with 5 Star and 5 Star Plus energy ratings. All homes constructed on or after April 1, 2007 must meet Alaska Building Energy Efficiency Standard (BEES) 2007.
Rate reductions are also available for energy improvements to older, existing home purchases. Any property that can be energy rated and is otherwise eligible for AHFC financing may qualify for this state incentive program.

Golden Valley Electric Association - SNAP Program

The Golden Valley Electric's SNAP program encourages members to install renewable energy generators and connect them to their utilities' electrical distribution system by offering an incentive payment based on the system's production on a $/kWh basis.
The amount paid by each participating utility to its renewable energy producers depends on the total amount contributed by GVEA purchasers through their green pricing program.

Golden Valley Electric has certain criteria for this incentive program which it states must be a “Qualified alternative energy resource" which includes electricity produced from generation facilities that are fueled by: (a) wind; or (b) solar energy and other alternative energy resources.
